vipOpenTable Diner (Melbourne / VIC)·Dined on April 24, 2017We liked the ambience at ABC kitchen but we disliked the runner/servant. When we got to our table our runner was really attentive but she wasn't allowed to bring us wine etc. so we waited 30 minutes to get a glass of wine and a menu to choose from. Maybe this system is more effective but we have the feeling it didn't really worked out for us. Food wise it was delicious. As a starter we shared the calamari and the crab toast. Crab toast was amazing. Simple but so much flavor! Will definitely come back for the toast. Maybe we were just a bit unlucky with our waiter..Tags: Comfort Food, Cozy, Open Kitchen

Abc Kitchen Open Table

This, surprisingly, is the toughest table in chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s New York City empire. ABC Kitchen is a chic, organic-mad operation in Flatiron where the talented Dan Kluger is chef. Both the fashion and food set descend on the place to eat damn good kale salads and whole wheat pizzas that don’t have much to do with the flambéed foie Vongerichten makes uptown. Book a month in advance, unless you want to eat at 10:30 p.m.. Occasionally, though, something better appears on OpenTable.

OpenTable Diner (New York Area)·Dined on April 22, 2017I have been a few times to ABC Kitchen and have enjoyed the food and the service. I took my best friend for her bday here. The food was too greasy, not that flavorful or unique from what you would expect from such trendy, big name, NYC restaurant. Also, I had requested something specific for my friend's birthday and did not happen. The flan and the tres leches dessert were such a big disappointment. I know what both of them should taste and feel. The flan was overlooked and served warm, while the tres leches was not flavorful at all. It lacked texture, flavor and was way too drenched in a milk mixture. I think, they should have a latin chef or someone who understands latin fusion cuisine.

Very interesting decor. I enjoyed that. However, service did not meet my expectations. Neither did the food. I had the asparagus pizza that was recommended by the waiter. It really didn't have much flavor. The French fries were pretty good. My mom had a pasta dish that jalapeños that were so spicy it was almost unedible. When we asked for more bread, the server seemed almost iterated with us. We had three different people helping us. The last server was very helpful. She gave us directions to where we were going next. Overall I was disappointed with our experience here. ABC Kitchen was so highly recommended to us. Maybe my expectations to too high.

I have mixed feelings about ABC Kitchen. My cocktail (Strawberry Royal) and pea soup were both excellent. The hamburger was a mixed bag, however. It would have been really good except the outside had WAY too much char on it. Everything else about the preparation was good. Also, charging $4.00 every time you want your tiny glass of iced tea refilled is excessive and out of the norm.
